Cash for Hawaii's residents, paid for by a fee on imported fossil fuels.

Home: About Us

What is Carbon Cashback?

Carbon Cashback is a new program being proposed for Hawaii that would provide a stimulus check for all long-term residents while encouraging residents to reduce their consumption of fossil fuels.

On a regular basis, a check from the state of Hawaii would be sent out to all residents, beginning with lower income residents first.  The funds for this stimulus would come from a fee paid for by the companies importing fossil fuels into Hawaii.  Studies have indicated this program would financially benefit the majority of Hawaii’s residents, especially lower income groups, and would reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
